It’s never too late to try something new. That could be the motto for USC Aiken junior Leah Jones.
The 5-2 native of Columbia, S.C., walked onto the cross country team prior to the 2016 season.
Although it marks her first season as a collegiate student-athlete, Jones has continued to push hard and improve throughout the season, which wraps up Saturday at the NCAA Southeast Region Championship in Montevallo, Ala.
Jones, who was recently named to the PBC all-sportsmanship team, has improved upon her 5k and 6k times over the course of the season. Her best finish of the season was 44
th at the Jaguar Challenge.
While running a 6k at the PBC Championship, Jones notched a personal-best time of 35:06.8. By dropping her times throughout the season, she has proven that she can be a tremendous asset to the program.
With another year left to compete, look for Jones to leave a lasting legacy by reaching new heights in such a brief time.
